My Condominium Law Practice
Whether you are a condominium developer, a condominium association board member or officer, or any unit owner or purchaser, you need a lawyer with a specific knowledge of condominium law. Connecticut's current condominium law is based on the Connecticut Common Interest Ownership Act, it is a comprehensive, detailed evolving structure. I have been working with the Act for over 20 years and I still encounter new questions, concepts and approaches. Any lawyer can read the Act, but only a few thoroughly understand its nuances. There are many parts of the Act that are very different from other law. Another reason that condominium practice is even more difficult, Connecticut had two other condominium acts prior to the Common Interest Ownership Act. Some communities are governed by more than one condominium act.
I have used the provisions of the Act to create residential condominiums, mixed use condominiums, commercial and office condominiums, industrial condominiums, dockominiums (marinas) and even timeshares. I have guided communities through developer transition and have amended their documents, negotiated and closed loans to condominium associations, defended condominium associations in litigation, brought foreclosures, collected common charges and counseled boards on the fair, legal governance of the a condominium. I have represented unit owners who have grievances against associations, have been treated unfairly or have but objects of discrimination. I have defended unit owners who were being foreclosed out by the Association.
